Dated 19 April 2025: A courtesy visit was made to Professor Dr. Md Shahinul Alam, Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh Medical University by representatives from the Department of Public Health and Informatics (DPHI) and the Bloomberg-funded Vital Strategies team. The Vital Strategies delegation included Ashish Kumar Pandey, Director (Tobacco Control), South East Asia and Eastern Mediterranean Regions; Lindsay White, Senior Program Manager, Tobacco Cessation;  Asha Tandon, Finance and Contract Manager; Syed Mahbubul Alam Tahin, Senior Technical Advisor; and Fahmida Islam, Technical Advisor – STOP.

Representing DPHI were Professor Dr. Md Atiqul Haque, Chairman of DPHI, Dr. Md Maruf Haque Khan, Director of the NCD Research Center and Assistant Professor and Mr. Salim Mahmud Chowdhury, Director of CIPRB.

The visit aimed to foster enhanced collaboration on tobacco control initiatives.
